Lamps and buttons can be custom labeled by the user with plastic label inserts. The inserts can be custom legended with text and/or graphics, and slipped into a protective pocket behind the faceplate.
The OM1212 Lamp/Pushbutton Panel is part of Optimation's OptiMateŽ series. Each OptiMateŽ module is designed to connect to a microprocessor or most PLC's with a single cable connection. OptiMateŽ modules can be used individually, or together with any combination of other OptiMateŽ modules.
When used with a microprocessor system, simple communications over either an RS232 or RS422 communications cable allows the microprocessor to directly control each lamp and read the state of each button.
When used with a PLC, operation is transparent to the user. Lamps and buttons appear in the PLC ladder logic as coils and contacts. The OM1212 takes care of the rest.
Features
12 Plug-In LED Light Bars
Red, green, or yellow lamps available
12 tactile snap pushbuttons
Independently configurable for
momentary or alternate-action mode
User-Legendable
Stand alone capability with direct
connection to most PLCs
Compatible with any computer via
serial communications
Mix and match with other OptiMateŽ
modules
Benefits
Saves valuable I/O rack space
Eliminates the need for controller I/O modules for operator
panel use
Reduces system integration and retrofit costs
Remove and replace maintainability
Rapid future expansion
Reduced maintenance costs
Attractive, eye-appealing appearance
Direct
Connect to PLCs
OptiMateŽ modules connect and operate directly with most major
PLCs. A simple cable connection allows the PLC to access each button
directly simply by reading bits in data registers. Everything else is
totally transparent.
PLC
Multi Modules
The OptiMateŽ series provides the
means to construct large custom panels with standard building block modules.
OptiMateŽ modules can be grouped together or separated by up to 4000
feet. Any combination of operator panels can be incorporated into a
system.
Microprocessor-Based
Systems
OptiMateŽ modules connect to any
computer or microprocessor-based system through a serial link. Either
RS232 or RS422 communications can be employed. The microprocessor controller
simply polls for module data or sends module commands to completely control
the operator panels.
Legending
the Buttons
Legending the OM1212 module involves
simply sliding legend transparencies in two pockets in the module overlay.
The bezel can be removed from the front of the module as shown on the right.
Once this is done, legend transparencies can be placed in the pockets in the
overlay (behind the lexan surface layer).
A legend transparency can be created
by a number of methods. Computer graphics programs combined with overhead
transparency paper and a laser printer and/or copier produce excellent results.
Other options are listed in the OM1212 data sheet.
